The US Department of Justice presented its competition investigation against Google's parent company Alphabet on Tuesday evening.
Alphabet's monopoly on the search engine market is considered illegal and the authorities are considering recommending that the judge proceed with a forced sale of parts of the business, such as the Chrome web browser and the Android operating system.
Another proposal is that Google should be forced to disclose the data behind the search engine and the company's various AI products, so that competitors can access it. A longer list of proposals will be presented in a month.
Google writes in a blog post that it considers the proposals to be "radical and sweeping" and can have negative consequences for American consumers.
In August, a judge in the USA ruled that Google's search engine had illegally exploited its dominance on the market to eliminate competitors. Alphabet has announced that the decision will be appealed.
