The American aircraft manufacturer Boeing will get rid of 17,000 employees worldwide – approximately 10 percent of the workforce. The company is also warning that the ongoing strike will result in continued significant losses, reports Wall Street Journal.

The launch of the new aircraft model 777X, which is already delayed, will be further postponed. The development of the freight plane 767 will also be discontinued.

The negotiations with the striking workers, approximately 33,000 people, broke down earlier in the week. The strike, which has been ongoing since September 13, means that aircraft production has virtually come to a halt.
