The election outcome with Donald Trump as the new president of the USA has caused the bitcoin exchange rate to skyrocket, and since the election day, it has increased by more than 30 percent.
Wednesday's price increase means that another milestone has been reached as it passes 90,000 dollars. This also means that for the Swedish part, another record level is reached, as one bitcoin is now worth more than one million Swedish kronor for the first time.
On Wednesday, bitcoin peaked at 93,469 dollars before falling back again.
The background and explanation for the price increase are great optimism about the future of cryptocurrencies with Donald Trump as president. Trump, who was previously a skeptic towards cryptocurrencies, is now believed to ease the regulations regarding cryptocurrencies.
However, questions have been raised lately about how well-prioritized such issues will be for Trump in competition with increased trade tariffs and the development of the American economy.
"We do not rule out further price increases, but a large part of the good news is now priced in," writes, among others, online broker IG Australia in a market letter.
