Better retail sales in the USA than expected

Sales in retail trade in the USA increased by 0.4 percent in September compared to August, according to fresh statistics.

It was somewhat more than the 0.3 percent that analysts had calculated with according to Bloomberg's compilation of forecasts.

Excluding vehicles and fuel, the increase was 0.7 percent. Here, expectations were also at 0.3 percent.
