Westkust is a three-masted schooner based at Edshultshall, on south-west Orust. It is chiefly a training ship for young people, and is also a tourist attraction. Orust Skolfartygsstiftelse, a non-profit foundation, has owned the vessel since 1986. The foundation says all the work is voluntary and all income goes to the ship’s activities and preservation.

The association Förlig Vind organises Westkust’s work. Its activities aim to build cooperation, companionship and seamanship, alongside traditional sailing and work maintaining the vessel. Westkust is also chartered with crew to private individuals, companies and organisations, with the income supporting its operation. The ship is described as a symbol of Orust’s maritime and shipyard traditions.

People interested in the association’s activities can contact it at info@westkust.se or reach Julia Odding at julia@odding.se or 0703 54 56 46. The foundation invites people of all ages to join the association. It also welcomes members who want to support the work and receive updates.
