Munkbrohamnen is a small wooden bathing pier beside Gamla stan metro station, set up for a quick dip. A central opening contains a submerged basket with a net at the bottom, 1.6 metres below the water. The city says the basket is intended to protect swimmers from currents. Swim only inside the dipping pier: bathing is not allowed outside its railings, from the quay or from the other piers at the site.

The pier is movable and is taken away during the winter season. The city gives no removal date, so its published details do not establish whether it is still in place this week. The city also says water sampling and checks are not carried out to the same extent as at official bathing sites. The city's page gives no admission price.

Gamla stan metro station is 140 metres away; Slussen is 700 metres away. Visit Stockholm says the bathing spot connects to the quay balcony, in place since 2024, and has a view across Riddarfjärden.

Good to know

Gamla stan metro station is 140 metres away; Slussen is 700 metres away. The pier is removed during winter, and the city gives no removal date, so check that it is in place before travelling for a swim.
