MONEY! traces how money and economics have changed Swedish society and everyday life. The exhibition brings together 3,000 objects, including the world’s largest coin, Sweden’s first banknotes and a bitcoin ATM. Other displays include the Loheskatten hoard, shares from the Swedish East India Company and ration cards from the Second World War.
Visitors can play The Money Matrix, a digital game that asks them to identify secret agents hidden in historical periods. A second interactive activity lets visitors take a fictional job interview and find out what work they might have done in the 1800s. The objects and games connect Sweden’s economic history with questions about what money is and how people use it.
