Checa is a Peruvian restaurant and pisco bar at Åsögatan 176 in Södermalm, about two minutes from Nytorget. The small dining room has a hand-painted mural and checkerboard floors, with a bar for a more casual visit. The menu includes ceviche, tiraditos, lomo saltado, grilled octopus and pisco sours. Checa says it prepares dishes by hand and recommends ordering a range of plates to share.

Listed menu examples include crispy yucas for 95 kronor (about $9.50, £7.13) and causita, with potato, octopus and crab, for 145 kronor (about $14.50, £10.90). These are sample prices, not a full menu price range. The restaurant is closed on Mondays and Sundays. It opens Tuesday to Thursday from 17:00 to 22:00, and Friday and Saturday from 17:00 to 23:00. Food orders are taken until 20:30 Tuesday to Thursday and 21:15 on Friday and Saturday.

This Thursday, 5 November, the restaurant lists a South-West France cultural dinner, from 17:00 until late, with dishes including duck confit and Bordeaux wine. Walk-ins are welcome at the bar, and bar tables can be booked. For groups, the community table accommodates up to 10 people; the separate dining room is for groups of 11 to 20.
