Freshwater crayfish researcher Lennart Edsman leads this talk at Norrtälje City Library. It will cover the status of Sweden’s native noble crayfish, threats to the species, conservation measures and care, as well as fishing and crayfish farming. The event page describes the situation as critical and says only two per cent of the stock remains compared with a century ago.

Edsman has worked with crayfish for 36 years at the Swedish Board of Fisheries and the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences. He led the conservation action programme for the native noble crayfish for 16 years, and spent 10 years as president and a board member of the International Association of Astacology, a worldwide organisation for freshwater crayfish.

Naturskyddsföreningen Roslagen is organising the event with Norrtälje City Library. Advance booking is required. The talk is for people interested in freshwater wildlife, conservation or crayfish fishing and farming.
