The Cliff Burton Museum in Lagan, Småland, is dedicated to the life and musical legacy of Metallica bassist Cliff Burton. Inaugurated in 2022, it gives visitors a place to learn about his life and career. Burton was 24 when he died in 1986 in a tour-bus crash at Dörarp, north of Ljungby.

Inside the museum are photographs, albums, posters and tickets, as well as a replica of Lars Ulrich’s drum kit from Burton’s last tour. A small stage recreates Burton’s final gig, in Solna.

The memorial stone erected by fans in 2006 is in Dörarp. Visitors can go there to pay tribute; fans from around the world make pilgrimages and leave guitar picks or beer cans at the stone. Dörarp is in Sagobygden, where tales and legends are cherished. The museum and the memorial stone are in different places: Lagan and Dörarp. A visit links exhibits about Burton’s music with a memorial at the site associated with his death.
