The Medical History Museum traces Gothenburg’s healthcare from its first hospitals and Sahlgren’s will to medical successes and the large building projects of the post-war years. Its exhibition uses personal stories and objects to show how views, treatments and living conditions changed. It follows some healthcare professions and places, and connects Gothenburg’s history with developments in international medicine and Swedish society. The exhibition also describes efforts by Gothenburg and Sweden to improve public health.
