Lilla Åstols Rökeri is the smaller sister restaurant of Åstols Rökeri on Åstol, a small island north of Gothenburg. This branch is inside Feskekörka, the city’s fish and seafood market hall.

Feskekörka has stood on the same site since 1874 and has long been a central hub for Gothenburg’s fish trade. Its name means “the Fish Church”. The hall’s architecture draws on Nordic stave churches and Neo-Gothic design. Its visible roof structure creates a large, open hall; the windows have pointed Gothic arches, and small spires decorate the façade.

After several years of restoration and modernisation, Feskekörka reopened in 2024. Today the hall has several restaurants and bars, as well as fish counters selling fresh seafood. Lilla Åstols Rökeri is the city-market-hall branch of the restaurant on Åstol, rather than the original restaurant on the island. A visit puts the restaurant within a hall that also brings together Gothenburg’s fish trade, places to eat and drink, and seafood counters.
