Feskekörka has been a seafood destination in Gothenburg since 1874. Its name means “fish church”, and Visit Sweden says its pointed-arched windows and interior without partitions or pillars give it the look of a church. After renovation, it reopened as a market hall with seafood delicacies, several fish counters, restaurants and bars. The kitchens host national and international guest performances. Events, food and drink experiences and stage entertainment are also part of the offer.

Visitors can browse the fish counters, choose from the restaurants and bars, and use the outdoor seating facing Vallgraven. Visit Sweden describes the outdoor seating as one of Gothenburg’s largest. The restaurants named in the listing are Lilla Åstols Rökeri, Haldis Kök, Ekmans and Victor von G. The market hall brings together seafood retail and dining under the church-like roof, so a visit can mean looking around the counters as well as sitting down to eat. The building’s open construction, without partitions or pillars, is part of its distinctive form. Feskekörka’s history, fish market and dining offer are all in the same building.
