Hungary wants to opt out of EU asylum rules
Hungary is doing as the Netherlands and applying for a formal exemption from the EU's asylum and migration policy. "The Hungarian government is determined to take strong measures to protect its borders and curb illegal migration that threatens national security", writes EU Minister János Bóka in a letter to the EU Commission, which he also posted on his Facebook page, according to the AFP news agency.
Brussels boycotts Budapest
Moved meetings and no EU commissioners in Hungary. This is now being marked in Brussels against Viktor Orbán's way of handling his presidency in the EU Council of Ministers.
Trump's catchphrase as Hungary takes over EU presidency
The catchphrase is borrowed from Donald Trump as Hungary takes over the presidency of the EU's Council of Ministers from 1 July. The main slogan becomes "Make Europe great again" – Make Europe great again.
