An elderly woman contacts the police and reports that she was called by a purported plumbing company yesterday evening.
The man who called claimed that the sewage pipes in the woman's house - due to an incident in the area - had to be flushed. The man meant that it was urgent, and that he would come already the next morning to perform the work. The woman got a bad feeling about the conversation and therefore contacted the police. Scams with a similar setup are well-known to the police, which is why a patrol was sent to the woman's address on Wednesday to wait for the man. When he appeared, around 2 pm, he was arrested. Initially, the suspicions are of an attempt at fraud.
Scams in the VVS mode can have different purposes. It can be about preparing access to someone's home to steal, obtain sensitive bank information or sell an unnecessary service under false pretenses.
