On Björnövägen in Västerås, a police patrol begins a stop attempt of a vehicle. The driver, however, refuses to stop and a pursuit is initiated on Öster Mälarstrand.

Several police patrols are ordered to the scene. At the intersection of Öster Mälarstrands Allé and Klyvargatan, the driver leaves the car and continues on foot instead. After a shorter sprint, the driver, a man in his 30s, is caught and handcuffed.

During the pursuit, a minor collision occurred between a police car and the suspected vehicle. However, no person was injured in connection with this.

The police are investigating the incident as gross negligence in traffic and driving under the influence. In connection with the suspicions of driving under the influence, the man is taken in for a body search. The police also conduct a search of the man's vehicle.
