The police have received several calls on Monday evening about suspected fraud attempts.
It is people in Kalix, all born in the 1960s, who have received SMS from someone claiming to be from a paid service company.
In the false SMS, it states that the recipient has been issued a new payment card. The recipient of the SMS is urged to call a specified phone number if they have not ordered a new card.
"Your card is now ready and issued. If this is not you, contact us immediately XXX-XXXXXXX. Kind regards."
The police suspect that it is a case of attempted fraud and advises the person who receives the SMS not to call the specified number.
In one of the cases, the injured party has called the number and has received verbal threats in connection with this. A report will be filed.
