What it is: a membership organisation, not an authority. It negotiates rents with many landlords and gives advice on renting, second-hand contracts, lodgers and housing queues.
How to reach it: call or email; some help is for members only.
Where people get stuck: a person who sublets to you needs written permission from their own landlord or from the rent tribunal. Do not pay more than a reasonable rent or extra fees on top of it; in some cases you can claim money back afterwards.
