It was during Sunday's round of 16 against the Briton Sonay Kartal that Anastasija Pavljutjenkova lost a point after the electronic line system was accidentally turned off.

You took the game from me. You stole it from me, said Pavljutjenkova to the judge afterwards.

In total, the electronic system is said to have missed three balls.

Now Wimbledon is apologizing. Sally Bolton, CEO of the organizer All England Club, elaborates:

It was the human factor in the form of the system being unintentionally deactivated, she says according to AP.

She continues:

We have spoken to the players, we have apologized to them.

The electronic line system has replaced human line judges at Wimbledon 2025, since previously the same system has been introduced at both the Australian Open and the US Open.

Anastasija Pavljutjenkova won, despite losing a point, the match in two straight sets (7–6, 6–4) and is on to the quarterfinals.
