Ghebreyesus is expected to visit treatment centers in the city of Bunia and meet with local authorities, health workers, and families affected by the infection.
"That's why we're here, to discuss with the community and to see how things are developing and whether there are any challenges we can help with," he told reporters.
The infectious disease has spread to at least three regions in the country and to neighboring Uganda.
At least 1,077 suspected cases have been identified in Congo-Kinshasa since the outbreak was confirmed in mid-May, including 246 deaths, according to the African Union's disease control agency, Africa CDC.
