In the bluff SMS, which appears to come from Postnord, the recipient is, among other things, urged to click on a link to receive a package.
One of the more common messages is that there is a package waiting and that the person must pay a shipping fee to pick it up, says Henrik Ishihara at Postnord's press service.
Postnord noticed the marked increase in suspected fraud when worried customers began calling the customer service.
If you compare with a normal day, there were three or four times as many calls about suspected bluff SMS to our customer service until yesterday, says Henrik Ishihara.
The police in Jönköping County have been contacted by several people who have received messages about alleged package deliveries and are warning of caution.
"We want to emphasize that you absolutely should not click on unknown links, respond to messages, or call the sender of this type if you are not expecting contact from a company or any other service you are knowingly connected to", writes the police in Region East.
Postnord warned about similar messages circulating on SMS and email last summer.
It comes in regular intervals, says Henrik Ishihara.
Do not click on unknown links.
Avoid responding to messages, calls, and calling the sender you do not expect to be contacted by or are connected to.
Ask yourself an extra time what is said in the message.
If you are still affected by fraud, you should contact the police at 114 14.
