The elevated levels of the doping-classified substance in the players were due to contamination from the rubber granules used on the artificial turf.
"We expect this to be addressed quickly. Our training group uses Vallhall 20-25 hours a week, so the exposure is very high. Athletes, regardless of level or type of sport, must feel safe that they are not exposed to prohibited and/or harmful substances in their training facilities", writes Warholms training group in a statement to NTB and continues:
"The purpose of anti-doping must be to protect clean athletes, and then we cannot have a situation where athletes are caught for doping without having done anything illegal. We cannot live with that".
It was after the match between LSK and Vålerenga in the Norwegian women's top league in April that Antidoping Norge tested eight players and found traces of DMBA - a synthetic substance that stimulates the central nervous system, according to Antidoping Norge.
In Norway, there are 21 other halls that also have the same or similar granules in the artificial turf as in the LSK hall where the match was played. This is shown by a survey that NTB has received from the Norwegian football association.
