Before a press gathering of a few hundred journalists from around the world, the new car has now been unveiled for the first time. A fully electric sedan model intended to replace the now-discontinued S90.

What makes the car unique compared to previous Volvo models is the 800-volt technology that competitors have used before, but now for the first time is found in a Volvo car.

Faster Charging

The range is expected to reach 70 miles, a record for a Volvo model. Even more important is perhaps that charging is accelerated, and after 10 minutes of charging, you should be able to drive around 30 miles.

— We have stuck to our Scandinavian design. It is the quietest car we have produced and with the longest range and fastest charging, says Volvo Cars CEO Jim Rowan during the presentation.

The new model comes in three different versions, one with a smaller battery.

Around a Million

The price tag is indeed slightly lower than Volvo's SUV model, EX90, but those who choose the simplest possible configuration will still have to be prepared to pay 929,000 kronor. For those who want four-wheel drive, it will cost an additional amount, i.e., a total of 988,000 kronor, while the "top model" will cost 1,052,000 kronor.

Sweden is one of the first markets where the car will be available, while the world's largest car market, China, will follow later.

It is also in China that the model itself will be manufactured, at Volvo Cars' factory in Chengdu, starting in the third quarter of 2025, with the first delivery at the end of the year.
