China is expanding the list of countries whose citizens can travel visa-free to the country for a limited time. This is an attempt to boost China's tourism and economy. Among the nine countries now included is Japan, whose relationship with China has been strained, partly due to the Taiwan situation.
Other countries that are now covered by the possibility of visa-free travel for up to 30 days include Estonia, Latvia, and Malta.
Swedes still need a visa to travel to China.
