The Left Party is demanding ministerial posts to support an S-led government. The party promises to "fill" people's wallets in a government and push down food prices and interest rates. It must become cheaper to live and to live, says party leader Nooshi Dadgostar.

Dadgostar presented V's election platform on Monday. It will be adopted at a party congress this spring.

A clear election promise to voters is that we will lower prices and fees.

Among other things, V wants to break up a "monopoly-like" market unless the food giants lower their prices. The party also wants to instruct the state mortgage institution SBAB to lower its interest rates in order to pressure down interest rates on the entire mortgage market.

Dadgostar also promises to increase child benefits, unemployment insurance and pensions.

We need to make sure we fill people's wallets, says Dadgostar.

Who pays?

When asked how an S-led government including V would finance these promises, the V leader stated that with the party's policies, families will have so much more to do that it will boost the economy and thereby reduce unemployment. V also wants to raise taxes for those earning over 50,000 kronor a month.

The election platform also points to the need for more employees in healthcare and that V wants to implement a general reduction in working hours while maintaining salary.

The Social Democrats have not, however, said that they will allow V into an S-led government if the red-greens win the election. However, Dadgostar expects that in such a situation, V will be allowed to become a government party for the first time.

The platform states: "If our votes are needed to form a government, we will also be part of it."

It also says: "This means that we will not support or allow a government that we are not part of."

Dadgostar does not give a straight answer to the question of whether V is really prepared to push for an extra election and thus risk that there will not be a change of government.

She expects that S leader Magdalena Andersson will not let it go that far. Dadgostar also reminds us that V showed in the summer of 2021 that they dared to overthrow a Social Democratic prime minister in a vote of no confidence.

V is primarily seeking a government partnership with S and MP, but the election platform states that it can also seek cooperation with the Center, "if necessary to secure a majority in the Riksdag."
