Unesco launches the world's first museum for stolen cultural artifacts.

The virtual museum collects 3D models of stolen and missing cultural objects from more than 40 countries. The goal of the museum is special – the idea is that it will completely disappear in the long run, as the hope is that the objects will be found and returned to their countries of origin.

Six objects stolen in Sweden are included in the museum. Among these are a gold neck ring from the 100th century after Christ, Anders Zorn's painting "Hins Anders" from 1904, and two revolvers donated to King Karl XV by Abraham Lincoln.

"The museum is an important platform for spreading knowledge about the problems of illegal trade and making the stolen and missing cultural objects accessible to the public again. It can also function as a tool to increase awareness and understanding of how threatened the cultural heritage actually is, even in Sweden", says National Antiquarian Susanne Thedéen in a press release.
