"He's going to miss a few weeks, but I don't know exactly how long. We'll have better answers when we get back home and get a good look at him and see how he's doing," Colorado coach Jared Bednar told the Denver Post.
Landeskog crashed into the goal frame during Colorado's away game against Florida on Monday night, local time in Sweden.
Colorado's 33-year-old captain missed three seasons with a knee injury, and initial reports suggested he had not re-injured his knee. It is now being described as an upper-body injury.
Gabriel Landeskog was one of six players pre-nominated for Tre Kronor, and national team captain Sam Hallam said he will wait and see with Landeskog. Hallam made this clear in the SVT studio during Sweden's JVM final against the Czech Republic.
"We will not make any changes to the Olympic squad. We are keeping our fingers crossed that it will work out, but the initial reports are still somewhat positive," he said.
Jared Bednar on Landeskog in the Olympics:
"It's a little too early to say right now. The injury is new, it just happened. We have to wait a bit and see how he handles it and what the exact prognosis is. Then we can set a time frame. But I hope, for 'Landy's' sake, that he can be there, because I know how much he's looking forward to it."
Colorado ends the road trip tonight with a game against Tampa Bay and then returns home to Denver.
