The contract with Dutch financing of 20 Hermelin, or Ermine in English, was signed at the NATO summit in The Hague, writes Ukrainian media.
This is about a small terrain vehicle intended to be able to sneak forward to evacuate the wounded at the front, complemented with a four-wheeler.
Both vehicles have batteries of up to 32 kilowatt hours, to be able to drive completely silently and also power other equipment in the field. But they also have diesel engines, and are prepared to be self-propelled.
What the deal is worth is not clear, but deliveries to Ukraine will begin next year.
It has already been clear that the Ukraine war means new forms of military electrification. Partly, much of the reconnaissance and attacks are carried out with battery-powered drones, partly Ukrainian soldiers at the front have converted cars and other vehicles to electric to be able to move forward more quietly.
