Uganda's goalkeeper was injured. The substitute was then sent off. It was down to the third goalkeeper to step in for the match against Nigeria.

Uganda suffered major goalkeeping chaos in the match against Nigeria in the African Championships.

Regular goalkeeper Denis Onyango received medical attention just before the half-time break and was unable to continue; he was substituted at half-time.

Substitute Salim Magoola, in turn, had to leave the field for a different reason. After just over ten minutes on the field, in the 56th minute, he was shown a red card and sent off.

To bring on another goalkeeper, midfielder Baba Alhassan was taken off, and Uganda's third goalkeeper of the day, Alionzi Nafian Legason, took his place between the posts for the rest of the match.

The evening got even worse for Uganda, who lost and were eliminated from the tournament. Nigeria won 3–1 and advanced to the finals.
