The fire, which broke out on Tuesday afternoon, quickly spread to nearby apartments. It has been difficult to extinguish and was not declared over until Wednesday morning, when it was no longer considered a risk of spreading.

During the morning, some of the fire sites were difficult to access, which led the rescue service to order a crane truck to lift a 40-square-metre metal roof. In the afternoon, the rescue service painted a brighter picture.

"Right now we see no signs of fire. We are working on surveillance and checks," says rescue leader Joakim Åberg at the Western Blekinge Rescue Service.

A total of three properties have been affected by the fire, which has a certain cultural and historical value, says Emina Kovacic. According to her, one property has been completely destroyed.

"They are three of the oldest in the neighbourhood and are part of the municipality's conservation development plan. They were character-defining and what has happened is incredibly tragic," she says.
