"We are offering a very fair and reasonable deal, and I hope they accept it, because if they don't, the United States will knock out every power plant and every bridge in Iran," Trump wrote in a post on Truth Social.
Trump also wrote that Iran fired in the Strait of Hormuz on Saturday, calling it a "total violation of our ceasefire agreement." Among other things, a French ship and a cargo ship from the UK were fired upon, according to the president.
Conflicting information
Iran is holding high-level talks with mediator Pakistan, but has not yet announced whether it intends to participate in direct talks.
According to the semi-official Iranian news agency Tasnim, the country has "not decided," but the agency also states that Iran will not send a delegation "as long as the US blockade continues," Reuters reports.
At the same time, there are conflicting messages from the White House about who will lead the American delegation.
Trump told ABC News that Vice President J.D. Vance, who led last weekend's negotiations, would not attend due to security concerns. White House officials later said the vice president would indeed lead the delegation, AFP, Reuters and the AP reported.
Envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner are also participating.
Enhanced security
In the Pakistani capital, Islamabad, authorities have begun tightening security ahead of a possible new round of negotiations. Soldiers have been deployed at roadblocks, traffic has been diverted and tourist attractions have been closed. Several major hotels have also been asked to cancel existing bookings, the AP reports.
American security forces have also arrived, an anonymous source familiar with the mediation work told the news agency.
The ceasefire between the parties expires on Wednesday.
