Vance writes on X that Iran "has enriched uranium far above the level required for any civilian purpose" and that President Donald Trump "may need to take further action to put an end to Iran's enrichment. That decision ultimately lies with the president."

At the same time, sources tell Axios that Trump is considering attacking Iranian nuclear facilities. On Tuesday, he is to meet with his advisors at the White House to discuss the war, according to the newspaper.

Threatens to kill Khamenei

Trump has been ranting on his social media platform Truth Social during the day, with hints that the US may come to kill Iran's supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, but "at least not for the time being", and claims that "we have full control over Iran's airspace". Israel has indirectly threatened to kill Khamenei on several occasions in recent days.

On Tuesday evening, Trump writes a brief post in capital letters with the call "Unconditional surrender" without mentioning Iran by name.

Trump has convened the US National Security Council due to the situation, according to the White House.

US Defense Minister Pete Hegseth gave orders over the weekend to send military reinforcements to the Middle East.

The war between Israel and Iran is in its fifth day since Israel attacked Iran on Friday night, with the motivation to stop Iran's alleged nuclear weapons program. Despite raised voices in the world about a ceasefire, there are few signs that Israel and Iran are willing to lay down their arms.

Urges evacuation

On Tuesday, Tehran has been shaken by large explosions at the same time as Iran has continued to fire rockets at Israel. Iran urges residents in the Israeli cities of Tel Aviv and Haifa to evacuate with warnings that "punitive measures will be taken shortly".

Iran's Revolutionary Guard claims to have attacked several important Israeli intelligence targets. Among other things, the Mossad intelligence agency's headquarters and a logistical intelligence center near the Glilot base near Tel Aviv are said to have been attacked, according to state-run Iranian media. Iran also claims that the military has attacked Israeli air bases.

Swedes in Iran and Israel

There are around 1,500 Swedes in Iran, according to the Swedish Foreign Ministry, which estimates that a large part are people who are on temporary visits. About 4,000 Swedes are in Israel. Most are believed to be resident in the country. There are no planned assisted departures from either Iran or Israel by Sweden. "The same applies to the other Nordic countries and the majority of EU member states," the Ministry for Foreign Affairs writes.
