In Iran's capital, explosions and heavy anti-aircraft fire have been heard during the night until Tuesday, reports Reuters, referring to Iranian media. Iranian air defense has also been activated in Natanz, where an important facility for the regime's nuclear energy program is located.
At the same time, Iran has launched projectiles at Israel in several rounds. Early on Tuesday morning, the air raid siren sounded in the northern city of Haifa. There are no reports of anyone being injured.
Donald Trump's warning of evacuation came in a post on social media, shortly after Iran announced that a new wave of "combined attacks" on Israel had begun. A spokesperson for the Revolutionary Guard stated that the attack wave will continue "uninterrupted until Tuesday morning", according to the state-run Iranian news agency Irna.
Leaving prematurely
Trump is leaving the G7 summit, which is taking place in the state of Alberta in Canada, a day earlier than planned due to the developments, according to the White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt.
"Due to what is happening in the Middle East, President Trump will leave tonight", she writes on X.
French President Emmanuel Macron, who is also on site in Canada, hopes that Trump's hasty departure will have a positive effect on the war.
If the US has the opportunity to arrange a ceasefire, it would be highly desirable, says Macron to reporters, and adds that it would be a "strategic mistake" to try to force a regime change in Iran.
The G7 countries urge the parties to "de-escalation" in a joint statement on Tuesday morning, but at the same time emphasized that "Israel has the right to defend itself" and that "Iran can never be allowed to have nuclear weapons".
USA sends reinforcements
Trump has requested that the US National Security Council be assembled in the so-called "situation room" when he returns, according to Fox News.
"To put it bluntly: IRAN CAN NOT BE ALLOWED TO HAVE NUCLEAR WEAPONS", Trump wrote in a post on the platform Truth Social, along with the warning that "everyone should immediately evacuate Tehran". He also repeated that Iran "should have signed" the nuclear agreement that Washington and Tehran negotiated.
A few hours earlier, US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth announced that he had given orders over the weekend to send military reinforcements to the region, without specifying what type of capabilities it concerns.
