South Korea is not living up to its trade agreement with the United States, according to U.S. President Donald Trump. He is now threatening to raise tariffs on a range of goods. South Korea says it has not been informed of the plans.

Donald Trump writes on his Truth Social platform that he and South Korean President Lee Jae-myung reached an agreement between the countries in July of last year. According to him, the terms of the agreement were confirmed when Trump was in South Korea last fall.

"Why hasn't the Korean legislature approved it?" Trump now writes.

Because the agreement has not been approved, Trump is threatening to raise tariffs on cars, pharmaceuticals and lumber from 15 to 25 percent, among other things.

South Korea says it has not been informed or given any explanation. According to a statement from the presidential office, the country's trade minister plans to travel to the United States for talks on the issue "as soon as possible," AFP reports.
