US President Donald Trump is now scrapping tariffs on coffee and meat, among other things.

Finance Minister Scott Bessent has previously indicated that there will be several customs notices in the coming days.

Tariffs will also be lifted on food products such as bananas, tea, cocoa and oranges, according to Trump.

"We just did a little pullback on some foods, like coffee," Trump told reporters on Air Force One.

The Trump administration has been criticized for saying that tariffs on food, among other things, have led to more expensive goods in stores for consumers. A description that the president and his staff dismiss. Instead, they argue that the tariffs have had the intended effect and that Trump has now been able to secure favorable trade agreements with several countries.

The American economy is struggling with high inflation and when asked if his tariffs have contributed to higher prices for consumers, Trump replies that "they may have, in some cases":

But to a large extent they have been carried by other countries.

Trump also reiterates plans to distribute the state's customs revenue to citizens. However, the president is more vague about exactly when a $2,000 payment could reach many Americans. "Sometime in 2026," is the message.
