The judge is thus giving in to Harvard and decides that the stop shall apply until the matter is settled in court, writes AP. The decision is an extension of a previous one.

The Trump administration had backed down before the judge's decision on Thursday and informed Harvard that the university would have 30 days to correct itself, as stated in a letter from the immigration authority ICE, reports ABC News.

The government is accusing Harvard, located in Cambridge in the state of Massachusetts, of, among other things, anti-Semitism and has demanded that the university cease its efforts for diversity, and inclusion.

Several threats and measures are being directed against Harvard. The government has, among other things, frozen research grants of over 2.6 billion dollars and stated its intention to review all state contracts.

The latest developments are taking place simultaneously as thousands of students and their families on Thursday gather for graduation ceremonies at Harvard.

The university has approximately 7,000 foreign students, according to ABC.
