The line has been closed since June 25, when twelve wagons on a 600-metre freight train derailed east of Bollebygd. The cause of the derailment was believed to be a sun kink.
"The repair work has gone according to plan. We have replaced nearly 700 metres of track, sleepers, rails and overhead lines," said Malou Klock Strömgren of the Swedish Transport Administration's Western Region in a press release.
During the closure, trains from Stockholm have had to turn around in Alingsås, and the Gothenburg-Kalmar route has been completely cancelled.
Trains will initially run at reduced speeds because of the ongoing heat wave. Not all services will run as scheduled for a couple of days.
