1. Funäsfjällen
Funäsfjällen is located in Härjedalen in Jämtland, 560 km from Stockholm, 710 km from Gothenburg, or 970 km from Malmö.
Funäsfjällen was voted best ski resort in Sweden in 2024 for its many ski areas, great facilities and abundance of natural snow.
The ski resort is made up of several areas: Tänndalen, Ramundberget, Funäsdalsberget, Tännäskröket, Kappruet, and Tänndalsvallen. However, all of these areas are covered by a single lift pass, making it easy to explore as many different parts of the mountains as you want.

2. Stöten
The very popular ski resort Stöten is located in Sälen, around 450 km from Stockholm, 500 km from Gothenburg, or 730 km from Malmö.
The ski season here starts in the beginning of December and ends in April, and with over 50 slopes Stöten is perfect for the whole family.

3. Åre
Åre might have Sweden’s highest vertical drop but it is placing number three on this list. However, this popular ski resort is still worth a visit as the third best ski resort in Sweden. Åre has a train station located in the middle of the village, making it an excellent winter train trip. However, if you are arriving by car Åre is 630 km from Stockholm, 890 km from Gothenburg or 1120 km from Malmö.

Bonus. Kungsberget (for families)
This ski resort is only included in the list because it's the closest bigger ski resort from Stockholm, just 211 km. This ski resort is for beginners and for families with children that wants to try out skiing. The resort has a lot of different accommodations and is relatively cheap compared to the other ski resorts.
