This is how the World Cup will proceed for Sweden.
Victory over the Netherlands means Sweden will at worst finish second in the group. But if Tunisia manages to take points from Japan early tomorrow morning, group victory will be assured.
The group winner will face the runner-up in Group C, currently Morocco, in Monterrey on June 29.
A point against the Netherlands gives Sweden four points in the group ahead of the final match against Japan. Sweden then still has the opportunity to finish first in the group, but could also finish second or third.
As group runner-up, Sweden will face the winner of Group C, currently Brazil, in Houston on June 29.
Sweden's loss to the Netherlands means a more difficult path into the playoffs and a more dramatic match against Japan next week. With three points from the opening match against Tunisia, Sweden has a great chance of becoming one of the eight third-placed teams that advance to the round of 32 of the tournament. A possible opponent could be Norway, featuring Erling Braut Haaland.
