The Swede has shown fine play throughout the week, and it has rained birdies at Yas Links in Abu Dhabi. A total of 22 birdies and only seven bogeys on 54 holes means that Söderberg is among the top contenders ahead of Sunday's final round.
The 34-year-old's third round went four under par.
As a result, he is at –15 overall, and shares third place with four other players. Ahead of the final round, he is only three strokes behind leader Paul Waring at -18.
If Söderberg wins, it would not only mean a significant leap from his 12th place in the overall standings and guaranteed play on the US tour next season, but also a substantial amount of money in his pocket. The winner of the prestigious tournament will take home approximately 1.5 million dollars, equivalent to 16.5 million kronor.
Söderberg tees off at 11.09 Swedish time tomorrow, alongside Danish Thorbjörn Olesen and Englishman Tommy Fleetwood.
The tournament is the second-to-last of the season. Next week, the season concludes in Dubai.
