When Isak and Liverpool arrived at their hotel ahead of tonight's match between Liverpool and Newcastle, he was booed by Newcastle supporters waiting outside, writes the Liverpool Echo newspaper, among others.
Isak's move from Newcastle last year was a drawn-out affair, with the Swede snubbing Newcastle's pre-season tour to train with his former club Real Sociedad instead. In September, the Swede was finally forced to leave the team when Liverpool bought him for a Premier League record fee, equivalent to 1.65 billion kronor.
Once the transfer was announced, Isak also faced heavy criticism, including a banner being hung at Newcastle's stadium with the text: "Isak is a rat."
