The number of reports of threats and violence in school has increased by 150 percent over the last ten years. Now, Education Minister Lotta Edholm (The Liberals) is calling on authorities, trade unions, and employer organizations to a crisis meeting on safety in school.

"The development we are seeing is very worrying", Edholm writes in a press release.

Among the authorities invited are the National Agency for Education, the School Inspectorate, the Work Environment Authority, and the Police Authority.

On January 22, the Education Minister also met with representatives from the Swedish Teachers' Union, the Swedish Association of School Principals, and the Municipal Workers' Union for talks on safety in school.
