The Decision: The Parliamentary Ombudsman Does Not Investigate the Landerholm Affair

The JO (Constitutional Committee) will not proceed with the complaint about the Government Offices' handling of the Landerholm affair. This is because the matter is already being investigated in the Riksdag.

The complaint to the Parliamentary Ombudsman (JO) has now been decided not to be taken up regarding the damage assessment that the Government Offices made after the former national security adviser Henrik Landerholm left classified documents at a conference center.

It took almost two years, 673 days, before the damage assessment was registered and only after Dagens Nyheter began asking questions about the document.

The reason behind the JO's decision is that the matter is already being investigated in another instance.

"Since the Constitutional Committee is already reviewing the handling and registration of the document, it is not suitable for me to investigate the same circumstances," says the Parliamentary Ombudsman Per Lennerbrant in a press release.

It was the Social Democrats who reported the Government Offices to the JO earlier this year.

"It is remarkable that it has taken 673 days to register this document," said Member of Parliament Heléne Björklund (S), who was behind the complaint, to TT at the time.

The decision from the JO's side means that the matter has been closed at the authority.
