Only 1,429 vehicles from the American electric car manufacturer were newly registered on Europe's largest car market, according to the German transport authority.
The sales slump comes, among other things, after Tesla owner Elon Musk expressed his support for the far-right AFD during the election campaign in Germany earlier this year.
Tesla's February results in Germany were completely at odds with the rest of the electric car registrations, which increased by 31 percent overall.
In the UK, on the other hand, sales of the American electric car increased. New registrations of Tesla cars in February rose by 21 percent.
At the same time, the overall sales of electric cars in the UK increased more during the month, by 42 percent.
The explanation for the increased sales of electric cars on the British market is partly due to a tax being introduced in April on cars costing over 40,000 pounds (equivalent to 527,000 kronor).
