The number of fraud calls in Telia's network decreased by almost 33 percent in the first half of 2026.
During that period, the company stopped approximately 21 million suspected fraud calls, which is ten million fewer than in the same period last year, Telia said in a press release.
"We are seeing a clear reduction in the number of fraud calls in our network, which is a positive sign. This indicates that our protective measures, together with the industry's joint work, are making this type of crime more difficult and less profitable," says Amanda Landqvist, head of Telia's fraud prevention.
Spoofing: One phone number is manipulated to look like another, trusted sender when making a call or text message.
Wangiri: Scammers hang up after just one ring to get the recipient to call back to an expensive number.
Phishing, vishing, smishing, quishing: Scammers fish for sensitive information or money via email, fake websites, phone calls, SMS, and QR codes.
