Kurdish forces reportedly abandoned the ISIS camp al-Hol and allowed prisoners to escape. The US says cooperation with the Kurds in combating ISIS is no longer needed.

The Kurdish SDF confirms withdrawal, blaming "the outside world’s indifference to IS." Thousands of relatives of IS members are in the al-Hol camp in northeastern Syria.

US envoy Tom Barrack says that cooperation with the Kurds in the region has "expired", saying the regime in Damascus is friendly to the US - and that the fight against the terrorist movement IS has entered a new phase.

Negotiations between Syria's interim president Ahmad al-Sharaa and Mazloum Abdi, commander of the Kurdish-led SDF, have reportedly broken down.

Syria's interim president declared a ceasefire on Sunday after an offensive against Kurdish strongholds in the country.
