At the concert, which has been titled "Sylvia Vrethammar – 'Happy birthday'", Lasse Åberg is the guest. According to a press release, the evening's program will include, among other things, jazz, Brazilian music – "and stardust". The conductor is long-time collaborator Magnus Lindgren.
Sylvia Vrethammar started singing in Rune Öfwerman's trio in 1967 and made her TV debut the following year. She made it to Svensktoppen with the song "En lärling på våran gård" – but it was "Eviva Espana" that made her really big, both in Sweden and the UK.
However, she received a lot of criticism for the song, which many thought could be interpreted as her praising dictator Franco, who was then ruling Spain.
It happened that I got called up and could hear someone saying "fascist!" over the phone, she told TV4's "Så mycket bättre" in 2012.
In 2013, Vrethammar competed in Melodifestivalen with the song "Trivialitet".
Tickets for the birthday concert will be released on April 22.
