After last year's weak World Cup, where Sweden finished in 14th place, the focus is on the defense and goalkeepers ahead of the European Championship on home soil.
Mikael Appelgren was trusted in goal ahead of comeback veteran Andreas Palicka, while Fabian Norrsten was rested.
Appelgren took the chance - and was named the best player of the match.
"It feels fantastic, almost like you're new to the national team. It was a special match where we wanted to get revenge on Brazil and it's important to have the ability to win matches," Appelgren tells SVT.
"Good old-fashioned style"
He was also praised by national team captain Michael Apelgren.
"It's great to have "Äpplet" back in good old form. I hope it continues like that, and then we have two good goalkeepers who can help," says the national captain.
Andreas Palicka was substituted with 17 minutes left and also made a couple of sharp saves.
Sweden started well, taking a five-goal lead, but a poor finish to the first half in a sold-out Husqvarna Garden meant a halftime lead of just one goal, 14–13.
Swedish demolition start
But the Swedes tightened up and started the second half with a bang. After twelve minutes of play, Sweden had taken a seven-goal lead, 24–17.
Felix Claar, who turned 29, was red-hot and scored four of the goals during that period. He became Sweden's top scorer with a total of seven goals.
National captain Apelgren was pleased with his team's defensive play - which did not work at all in the World Cup a year ago.
"Very happy for many periods, with the work that is being done. It's good to have guys back like (Max) Darj and (Oscar) Bergendahl, and Claar is fantastic," he says.
The teams meet again in Partille on Wednesday.
Sweden's European Championship premiere in Malmö against the Netherlands will be played on January 17.
