+ What?
Indoor European Championship in athletics.
+ Where?
Apeldoorn, Netherlands.
+ When?
March 6-9.
+ TV?
SVT and SVT Play.
+ The first of three championships
This year's big goal for athletes is the World Championship in Tokyo in September. But before the outdoor season starts, two championships will be decided in 17 days.
In just over two weeks after the European Championship, it's time for the indoor World Championship in Nanjing, China.
+ Duplantis skips
The European Championship is teeming with athletics stars – but the biggest one is missing.
Armand Duplantis is not competing in Apeldoorn, which means the second indoor European Championship in a row that the Swedish pole vault star is missing. He's instead focusing on the indoor World Championship.
+ Norrman on record hunt
Norwegian running star Jakob Ingebrigtsen has dominated the last two indoor European Championships. He's won double gold in 2021 and 2023, and one gold in 2019. This year, he's chasing his third consecutive double gold on 1,500 and 3,000 meters, which would mean equaling the medal record in indoor European Championships on the men's side. The current record holder is the old Soviet sprinter Valerij Borzov with seven golds.
+ Olympic gold medalist debuts – in radio
Former high jump star Stefan Holm makes his debut as an expert in Radiosporten. However, the Olympic gold medalist won't be commenting when his son, Melwin Lycke Holm, competes in high jump.
+ Four Swedish medal hopes
Thobias Montler – the 29-year-old long jump star has taken silver in three consecutive indoor European Championships, will it be a fourth? The chances didn't decrease when the Greek competitor and reigning world champion Miltiadis Tentoglou reported missing the championship, according to SVT. Montler is second in Europe this year with 8.23.
Henrik Larsson – Sweden's fastest man had a successful last year with, among other things, a Swedish record on 100 meters. At the indoor European Championship 2023, it was bronze, and the start of this year's competition season has been promising.
Andreas Kramer – the silver medalist at last year's indoor World Championship has not yet competed this year. In 2024, he broke the Swedish record on 800 meters three times.
Fanny Roos – the shot putter has taken medals in two consecutive indoor European Championships, silver in 2021 and bronze in 2023.
