Late on Monday, Alexander Isak was finally cleared for Liverpool, after refusing to train and play matches with Newcastle.
Striker colleague in Blågult, Viktor Gyökeres, had a similar turbulent summer before his move from Sporting to Arsenal became a reality.
"It was sad"
Just like in Isak's case, Sporting wanted to keep their contracted star striker - but Gyökeres refused to show up when the club's preseason began.
It's clear that it was sad (that it turned out like that). But nothing I could have done differently about how it ended. It turned out this way, it can be that way sometimes in life, says Gyökeres to the media after the national team's Tuesday training on Bosön.
Gyökeres has received a lot of criticism for his actions.
I don't feel like I need to convince people who don't have any insight into one's life and how it actually was. It was a sad ending, but it was nothing I could control, he says.
At the same time, he understands Sporting's reaction and actions.
They think about their best interests and I fully understand that. There are no hard feelings from my side.
He says he got a "positive" text message from Sporting's chairman after the worst smoke had settled.
Also present at the national team training was Alexander Isak, but the duo had not had time to talk much to each other.
I've just said hello and congratulated him on the move, not much more, says Gyökeres.
About Isak's disputed move to Liverpool, he says:
It can be the same thing, you don't really know what happened behind (the scenes). I don't know how the situation was in his case, so it's hard for me to talk about it.
Wanted to go to Arsenal
Gyökeres also got questions about how players have used their power to get to leave their clubs.
When a player is not wanted in a club, it's the total opposite, he has no power and the club can literally do what they want with the player.
The striker decided early on that he wanted to go to Arsenal.
That's what I was aiming for and it was nice that it turned out that way. It's a huge club and they showed interest. There were no big thoughts to think about other alternatives.
The football national team starts the World Championship qualification against Slovenia in Ljubljana on Friday evening. Then Kosovo awaits in Pristina on Monday.
In Gyökeres and Isak, Sweden has two of the world's hottest strikers.
It has felt very good in the matches (that we have played together). He and I have scored goals and we have assisted each other. We have to try to continue on that path.
