It is serious. It is a good summarizing word for it: serious, says security expert Kim Hakkarainen to Expo.
Säpo can neither confirm nor deny the information.
When it comes to what information we have or do not have related to the work on protecting the central government leadership, it is something we cannot go into, says Johan Wikström, press spokesperson at Säpo, to TT.
Wikström later adds via email that Säpo works "continuously and all the time to follow the violent extremist environments" and has "generally a good picture of the security situation around our protected persons".
The Government Offices' deputy communications director Linda Hallenberg says that the relative is a child.
"This is about a child who is not a public person. The security of the ministers is a matter for Säpo and further questions are referred to them. Säpo has information about this", she says to TT in a written comment.
A security risk
According to Expo, the relative has through several different accounts on social media tried to recruit people to the white power organization Det fria Sverige and had close cooperation with an activist in the Nazi Nordic Resistance Movement (NMR). The person is also said to have participated in activities with the Nazi and violent Aktivklubb Sverige.
Kim Hakkarainen sees the minister's connection to the person as a security risk.
It is a vulnerability that can be used by an antagonist, for example other states or other antagonistic actors who want to harm Sweden to influence or use the minister's relative as a possible means, he says to Expo.
Several accounts on social media
The person is linked to six accounts on four social media platforms, of which five are anonymous. On these, pictures have been published when the person puts up stickers with racist ideological messages in a school and in their residential area.
On their seemingly private account, both relatives, such as the minister, and right-wing extremists are followed.
Expo has contacted the minister, but has not received an answer to their questions. After contacting the minister's press secretary, the settings on the relative's social media account are said to have been changed and the tracks to the person erased. Several of the anonymous accounts are now closed.
Corrected: In an earlier version, a misleading description of the relative's activism was given.
